I am so excited to share this beautiful equestrian-inspired styled shoot that was recently featured on Wedding Chicks! As an equestrian myself, this shoot was especially meaningful to me, and it was such a joy to bring together an incredible vendor team to create a wedding inspiration that celebrates horses, nature, and the beauty of a New England spring.

With 2026 marking the Year of the Horse in the Chinese Lunar New Year, we wanted to create something that felt sophisticated and romantic while still capturing the freedom, movement, and spirit that horses represent. The result was a soft, garden-inspired equestrian wedding editorial featuring pastel florals, thoughtful details, and, of course, a very special four-legged guest.

The Inspiration Behind This Equestrian Wedding Shoot

For the setting, we chose JEM Equestrian in Duxbury, Massachusetts, an 18-acre horse farm on the South Shore set alongside a beautiful cranberry bog. The property provided the perfect backdrop for this vision, with peaceful natural surroundings, a gorgeous barn, and horses who are very much a part of everyday life on the farm.

I wanted the design to feel romantic and refined without losing the natural beauty of the setting. We chose a soft spring color palette of white, peach, butter yellow, blush pink, pale purple, and light green. These colors complemented the landscape beautifully and also paired perfectly with our horse model, Jill.

Jill is a gorgeous palomino mare with a rich golden coat and a flowing white mane and tail. She truly has those Barbie Dream Horse vibes! We incorporated her into the editorial in a way that felt natural to the setting, including a handmade floral wreath and a Louis Vuitton bridle with pink rhinestone accents.

As someone who has ridden horses for most of my life, incorporating this element into a wedding inspiration shoot felt particularly special to me. I rode for about 20 years growing up, owned three horses, and eventually focused on dressage after starting out in the hunter/jumper and equitation world. I recently returned to riding, but this time with my son. Being able to share something that has always meant so much to me with him has made horses an even more meaningful part of my life.

Garden-Inspired Florals & Thoughtful Equestrian Details

Flair Floral & Event Design created the floral designs for the shoot, using a rich mix of blooms to bring texture, softness, and movement throughout the farm. The garden-inspired arrangements felt right at home against the natural landscape and complemented the pastel color palette without competing with the setting.

One of my favorite details was the floral garland that Flair Floral & Event Design created for Jill. The design drew inspiration from classic equestrian style and the elegance of the Kentucky Derby. We draped it naturally over her neck for portraits, but it was also designed to work beautifully as part of a ceremony entrance. It was such a beautiful way to bring the equestrian inspiration into the design while keeping the horse at the heart of the story.

The stationery from Priscilla Basilio Design Studio carried that same feeling into the invitation suite. Priscilla drew inspiration from a quiet spring day on the farm: fresh grass, soft florals, a gentle breeze moving across the cranberry bogs, and the peaceful presence of the animals. We wanted the paper details to feel romantic and refined while still feeling effortlessly connected to nature.

Every detail was chosen to feel cohesive with the setting. Rather than creating a traditional barn wedding aesthetic, we leaned into a softer interpretation of equestrian style that felt timeless, feminine, and sophisticated.

A Farm-Chic Bridal Look

For the bridal fashion, we wanted to continue that balance of romance and equestrian-inspired style. Our bride model wore an off-the-shoulder lace wedding dress from Lulu’s, creating a soft and feminine look that worked beautifully against the natural setting.

The finishing touch was a pair of Altar’d State Nell Floral cowboy boots featuring pink and light blue floral details. They added just enough personality to the look and brought in a subtle Western-inspired element without taking the overall design in a rustic direction.

I loved the idea of showing couples that an equestrian wedding doesn’t have to mean going all-in on traditional horse-themed details. You can take inspiration from the setting, the lifestyle, and the colors you love and translate those elements into something that still feels completely like you.

A Romantic Reception Overlooking the Cranberry Bogs

For the reception design, we kept things simple and romantic, allowing the natural beauty of JEM Equestrian to remain the star. A two-tier wedding cake by Whisk By Maura was decorated with fresh flowers and displayed overlooking the cranberry bogs.

BBJ Latavola’s spring floral linen added another layer of pattern and color beneath the cake table, while a lush floral arrangement surrounded the display. The combination felt effortless and garden-inspired, as though the reception details had naturally grown out of the landscape around them.

Being able to bring this vision to life with such a talented team was incredibly special, and I am so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. From the floral design and stationery to the beautiful bridal look and, of course, Jill, every part of this shoot was thoughtfully considered.
